Synopsis:The film "Han Dad" is a feature-length family drama produced by Leyingmeng, co-produced and produced by Fujian West Window Film, executive produced by Deng Xiangping, and directed by renowned young director Yang Musheng. The story follows Liu Laoshi, a foster father, as he travels across mountains and rivers with his foster daughter Liu Xiaohua to find her biological parents. Through the winding journey of these two ordinary people, the film reflects on human nature, family bonds, ethics, and social realities.
In a southern city, there is a pedicab driver named Liu Laoshi, who is in his fifties. His daughter Liu Xiaohua is eight years old and just in second grade. Liu Xiaohua was a baby he found in a trash bin years ago. Since his wife passed away, he and his daughter have relied on each other, living on his meager income that barely covers daily expenses and his daughter's school fees.
Every evening, Liu Laoshi picks up his daughter after school on his tricycle and takes her to his "workplace," where he continues to look for passengers while she diligently does her homework at a small fold-up table. Despite their poverty, the bond between father and daughter provides them with warmth and support.
However, misfortune strikes when doctors tell Liu Laoshi that he has a serious illness, and the family cannot afford the high medical costs. Realizing he may not have long to live, he is tormented by the question: what would happen to little Xiaohua after he is gone? He finally decides to take the child to find her biological parents.
Though blood is thicker than water, years of nurturing have forged an even deeper bond between the foster father and his daughter. Liu Laoshi cannot bear to let her go, but his concern for her future outweighs his reluctance. Thus, the elderly foster father sets out on a journey with his daughter to find her birth parents. Unexpectedly, along the way, his daughter is abducted by human traffickers...
